Job description

Are you a Designated Project Engineer or CRE with rail telecoms and SCADA experience?
 
Do you have the ability to lead all Telecoms/ SCADA engineering activity on the Transpenine Route Upgrade?
 
Rate: £596 per day umbrella
Contract length: 6 months + - likely to be extended
Location: Manchester
 
Requirements:
+10 years experience on rail telecoms
Worked as senior project engineer previousbly
Ideally chartered or CRE
 
Job Role:
Provide strategic technical direction and leadership Telecomms / SCADA engineering activities within the Transpennine Route Upgrade Programme with the objective of making sure that all activities are carried out in a safe, high quality manner, consistent with client requirements, business standards and relevant legislation.
 
Key Accountabilities:
1. Lead all Telecomms / SCADA engineering activity within the TRU Programme with the objective of making sure that business objectives are achieved, all relevant policies and standards are adhered to, and completed work is reviewed and approved to an appropriate level.
2. Provide professional Telecomms / SCADA engineering leadership, guidance and support to all functions throughout the project, in particular programme / project managers and engineers, to improve decision making, design, and execution.
3. Approve all appointments to Telecomms / SCADA engineering positions and oversee the training and professional development of all staff involved in Telecomms / SCADA engineering activities, to ensure the provision of appropriate development opportunities and to ensure that competence is maintained.
4. Lead the review and assurance activities for all contracts with an engineering content to make sure they comply with all relevant policies, standards and Programme engineering requirements.
5. Lead all Telecomms / SCADA engineering design making sure that business needs are met, all relevant policies and standards are understood and applied, and appropriate value engineering decisions made.
6. Direct all Telecomms / SCADA engineering staff to liaise and work alongside other TRU engineers with the objective of making sure that completed designs and works will operate as an integrated railway system.
7.     Lead all TRU Programme relations with stakeholders on matters relating to Telecomms / SCADA engineering matters such that the reputation of the Programme is maintained and enhanced.
