Job description
We are seeking a proactive and confident Consultant Public Liaison Officer to support a major highways scheme in Kent. Working as part of our client's Southern Region team, you will play a key role in promoting positive relationships and maintaining clear, consistent communication between the project team, clients, stakeholders, and the general public.
This is an excellent opportunity for a well-organised communicator who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and wants to make a meaningful impact on a high-profile infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities
·Act as the primary point of contact for public, community, and stakeholder enquiries related to the scheme.
·Build strong relationships with local communities, clients, businesses, and interest groups.
·Support the delivery of a robust communications and engagement strategy.
·Prepare and distribute timely, accurate updates including newsletters, notices, and event materials.
·Manage public information events, site visits, and meetings.
·Monitor feedback and concerns, ensuring timely responses in line with project commitments.
·Work closely with project managers, engineers, and the wider communications team to ensure consistent messaging.
·Maintain detailed records of engagement activities and correspondence.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
·An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a confident, engaging approach.
·Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
·Comfortable working independently and using initiative.
·Experienced in public liaison, community engagement, communications, or a related field (highways or infrastructure experience desirable but not essential).
·Competent in preparing written communications and presenting information in a clear, accessible way.
·Able to build rapport quickly and handle sensitive conversations professionally.
