Commercial Manager


Salary: Up to £90,000 + package


Location: Cumbria


We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to lead all commercial aspects of a major infrastructure project valued at approximately £200m. This role sits within a joint venture delivering a long-term energy infrastructure scheme, with works expected to run through to 2029.


The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of a large-scale substation development, including associated high-voltage infrastructure and complex engineering works. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a nationally significant project within the energy sector.


Key Responsibilities
·Lead the commercial function across the project lifecycle
·Manage and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors
·Oversee procurement of materials and subcontract services in line with company processes
·Prepare and manage work package documentation and tender processes
·Carry out tender evaluations and support award recommendations
·Work collaboratively with the supply chain to drive value, quality, and continuous improvement
·Maximise cash flow through accurate valuations, invoicing, and payment management
·Manage variations, claims, and final account agreements
·Support client negotiations and commercial strategy
·Monitor plant and equipment utilisation for cost efficiency
·Produce accurate cost/value reports (CVRs) and financial forecasts
·Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities


About You
·Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
·Proven experience in a Commercial Manager role on major infrastructure projects
·Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)
·Chartered status (or working towards) is desirable
·Experience within the energy or utilities sector is advantageous
