Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Civils Inspector with a highways background to work on a long term contract basis on a major highways scheme in south Wales.
 
You will need to have extensive experience working on Highway, Drainage and Bridge schemes in either a Inspector, Clerk of Works or Supervisor position.
 
This contract falls inside IR35 and will be a 2 year contract, offering 50 hours per week Monday to Friday. There will be opportunity to work weekends and nights further down the line at an increased rate. Our client is also willing to pay up to £400 per week towards, accommodation, subsistence and fuel weekly (subject to having receipts).
 
The role
 
Purpose: To provide a full-time presence at the Viaduct scrutinising all the Works during their conduct and assuring the outcome.

Duties: In addition to the Site Rules and Inspection RAMS, Liaise with the staff from the Contractor and all sub-contractors working on the Viaduct. Attend all relevant meetings. Scrutinise and assimilate all Drawings, Schedules and Programmes in advance of any activity being undertaken. Provide advice to those working on the structure in advance of any operations in order to facilitate execution. Support and mentor the workforce during operations. Inspect all work during its conduct and on completion. This includes all inaccessible surfaces and items. That includes the use of a drone where appropriate. Sign Witness Points and Hold Points to record the associated scrutiny. It expected that the full-time presence will mean that all such Points will be seen and recorded. Keep a Site Diary and appropriate records.

Location: The duties are to be carried out at the Taf Fechan Viaduct and a desk is provided in the Main Contractor's nearby Taf Fawr Satellite Office co-located with the Designer and the Construction Team.
