Job description

A long-term contract opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Inspector for a multi-national civil consultancy. This is a long-term contract opportunity which is based full time on site. This position falls OUTSIDE IR35.
 
The Site Inspector would have previous experience in construction industry on port and harbour schemes. You will be based on the London Gateway Port site in Corringham carrying out site inspections and reporting on the works of the principal contractor currently constructing the marine part of a container terminal. The Site Inspector will be carrying-out duties under direct supervision of the Site Engineer who, under the supervision of the Resident Engineer, will guide and direct the site team in terms of liaising with the Client and the Contractor on a daily basis, carry out regular site visits and write daily reports for the head office in the UK.
 
Responsibilities and duties
 
- Work under the supervision of the Site Engineer and follow his/her directions
- Monitoring of ongoing construction and testing activities
- Perform inspections of concrete/steel works carried-out by the Contractor
- Perform inspections of pavement works and the associated pavement furniture installation / linemarking application carried-out by the Contractor
- Perform inspections of utilities/services installation carried-out by the Contractor
- Review and monitor ongoing construction and testing activities
- Provide feedback to the Site Engineer / Resident Engineer following site inspections if any issue arise
- Review and comment on contractor technical submissions such as Risk Assessments, Method statements, Inspection and Test Plans, As-Builts, Commissioning Reports, etc
- Attend and participate in onsite meetings with the site team
- Ensure that the Contractor complies with their own H&S system
- Ensure the Contractor adhere to procedures set out in the testing plan
- Provide input to daily / weekly / monthly reports prepared by the Site Engineer
- Maintain earthworks/pavement/utilities logs as required
- Review Contractor's payment applications and provide feedback to the Site Engineer / Resident Engineer
- Provide input on Contractor's claims to the Site Engineer as required
- Keep site diary, take photos and other site records as required
- Report to the Site Engineer and the Resident Engineer on all site-related observations
 
Qualifications and Requirements
 
- Civil Engineering qualification and geotechnical experience are an asset
- Minimum of 3 years site experience working on large scale construction projects
- Experience in earthworks / reclamation works / HEIC
- Heavy-duty pavement works experience
- Work experience with underground infrastructure/utilities installation
- Experience with steelworks
