Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Bridge Inspector who has experience in the inspection and maintenance of highways bridges. This role will be based in our clients Birmingham office and in the surrounding areas. The role involves a mix of both office and site-based work, night-time working, working away for periods of up to a week and weekend working will also be required.
 
The role includes activities such as cyclical inspection programmes, inspection for assessment, special inspections, non-destructive testing and site supervision of a wide range of bridges, buildings and other structures. The team is involved in local and national work for both the public and private sectors and working at a height is commonly required.
 
This role fall inside IR35.
 
The role
 
·Leading inspections, including the planning and programming of inspections of a variety of highway structures such as bridges, culverts, subways, retaining walls etc.
·Liaison directly with client and others third parties as needed.
·Preparing and checking inspection reports including producing and reviewing sketches and drawings within AutoCAD.
·Complying with health and safety and quality procedures.
·Maintaining of inspection equipment.
·Assisting with the commercial and financial control of your project.
·Supervising and mentoring junior inspectors in both the office and on site.
·Report writing and checking inspection reports and Health and Safety documents.

Minimum requirements

·Working towards or a willingness to work towards accreditation for the Bridge Inspectors Certification Scheme.
·BTEC Level 3 as a minimum, ideally ICE Engineering Technician (EngTech).
·Good understating of relevant DMRB standards and in particular CS 450 Inspection of Highway Structures.
·Experience in working within traffic management / Chapter 8 understanding.
·Experience of Working at Height.
·Good communication skills and an enthusiastic attitude to work.
·A good standard of written English.
·A commitment to comply with Health and Safety at Work and meeting the needs of our Clients.
·A good understanding of standard computer software packages, MS Office, AutoCAD.
·Ability to manage staff and project Health and Safety responsibilities including compliance with CDM legislation.
·Experience in road projects.

·Non- destructive testing of reinforced concrete structures
