As an Associate Town Planner, you will play a pivotal role in our planning team, contributing to the delivery of diverse projects and assisting in the development of innovative planning solutions.
Responsibilities:
1.Assist senior planners in the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and related documentation.
2.Conduct research and analysis to support the evaluation of planning proposals, including site appraisals, policy assessments, and impact assessments.
3.Collaborate with internal teams, including architects, engineers, and designers, to ensure the integration of planning principles in project development.
4.Assist in the preparation and presentation of reports, including feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and design statements.
5.Conduct consultations with stakeholders, community groups, and local authorities to gather input and ensure a participatory planning process.
6.Stay updated with relevant town planning legislation, policies, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to projects and planning activities.
7.Contribute to the development of planning strategies, policies, and guidelines to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
8.Provide support in monitoring and evaluating the impact of planning decisions on the environment, heritage, and socio-economic factors.
9.Assist in coordinating and managing external consultants and contractors as necessary.
10.Collaborate with the wider team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Requirements:
1.A degree in Town Planning, Urban Design, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications are desirable.
2.Demonstrated experience (5 years) in town planning, preferably in a consultancy or local authority setting.
3.Solid knowledge of UK town planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
4.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate planning issues and propose effective solutions.
5.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
6.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build effective relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients.
7.Proficiency in using planning software and tools for data analysis, report preparation, and presentation.
8.An understanding of sustainable development principles and a commitment to promoting environmentally responsible planning practices.
9.Membership or eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., Royal Town Planning Institute - RTPI).
10.A proactive and motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
