The role of an Acoustic Consultant offers the successful candidate a chance to work on local engineering schemes. The job involves providing specialist acoustics expertise, to support the delivery of environmental services and collaborative projects across the consultancy.
 
Main accountabilities:
·Undertake noise & vibration assessments to produce detailed technical reports for a range of internal and external clients to achieve quality, programme and financial targets fulfilling legislative and technical requirements.
·Provide expert acoustics advice to colleagues, clients or third parties to support compliance with legislation and projects that may be complex and large-scale across the organisation or externally.
·Provide specialist acoustics planning support to clients and other Planning Authorities including undertaking role of expert witness at inquiry, to ensure new development is compliant with legislation and national/local planning policies.
·Contribute to the growth of the acoustics service within the Environmental Consultancy, identifying opportunities for development and identifying market opportunity to support achievement of business plan objectives.
·Undertake the design and delivery of noise mitigation schemes, for internal and external clients to achieve successful delivery and implementation of projects, and adherence to legislative and industry best practice.
·Adhere to Health and Safety and Quality management systems, processes and requirements ensuring full adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation, policy and best practice to protect people and the environment.
·Manage communication and liaison with clients and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including members of the public and elected Members to facilitate project delivery and maintain positive company reputation.
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
·Relevant degree and/or IOA accredited Diploma with demonstrable post qualification experience / knowledge gained through practical experience in an acoustics consultancy environment; eligible for Membership of IOA.
·Working knowledge of relevant, technical guidance, legislation and Codes of Practice appropriate to acoustics including but not limited to: BS4142, BS5228, Calculation of Road Traffic Noise (CRTN), Part I of the Land Compensation Act and PPG for surface mineral extraction and the Control of Noise at Work Regulations.
·Strong ICT skills including competence in specialist computer modelling software used to support noise and vibration assessment.
·Proven experience of writing and reviewing technical noise & vibration assessment reports.
·Experience of providing information, communicating and working collaboratively with internal and external customers, stakeholders and colleagues to achieve delivery objectives.
·Experience of undertaking site noise surveys following best practice and relevant guidance
·Experience of managing projects to meet financial and programme targets.
·A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example to other staff.
