What we need
Are you a proactive individual looking for a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and safety of our highways in East Sussex? We are seeking a dedicated Vegetation Operative to join our team on behalf of the local authority. While previous vegetation clearance experience is desirable, we also welcome candidates with Traffic Management Operative experience who are eager to learn and grow in this role.
What you will do
As a Vegetation Operative, your primary responsibility will be to perform vegetation clearance along the highway to ensure the safety and functionality of our road network. Your tasks will include:
- Safely and efficiently operating chainsaws and strimmers for vegetation clearance.
- Clearing overgrown vegetation to maintain clear sightlines and road access.
- Assisting in the setup of traffic management measures to ensure the safety of both the team and road users.
- Following health and safety protocols at all times.
- Collaborating with team members to complete tasks effectively and efficiently.
What you will need
While previous vegetation clearance experience is desirable, we are also open to candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Traffic Management Operative experience.
- Chainsaw and strimmer experience with relevant certifications or tickets (NPTC or equivalent).
- A strong commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.
- A valid UK driving license (preferable but not essential).
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
