Job description

Role: Tunnel Inspector
Duration: 6 months
Rate: £45 - £50 per hour - Umbrella
Location: Darlington
Start Date: March

My client is looking for a Tunnel Inspector to join them working on a project for Northumbrian Water to provide Tunnelling Support including ECC supervisor role for tunnelling during the detailed design, construction, commissioning and defects phases of Tees Central strategic Pipeline Main Phase 1 project

All works would be expected to be undertaken on site and the Inspector will be based on one of the shaft/tunnel drive site. Shaft sinking works would commence in May 2023 and be based around 12 hour working days Mon- Friday with 7am till 2pm on Saturdays. This is expected to be over 6 month period, with both shafts either side of the river being constructed at the same time. Tunnel drive will follow after shaft completion and is expected to be on a 24hr basis 7 days a week.

The ideal candidate is to undertake the role of Tunnel Inspector for the project. The role requires on site supervision of the construction works on behalf of Northumbrian Water to ensure that the standards of quality and safety are maintained during the construction of the works. It is expected that this will require daily reporting of progress, quality, and safety issues as well as reporting of any safety incidents, observations or near misses that are observed into the relevant project systems as they occur. A collaborative approach with the project team (Both Northumbrian Water and the Main Works Contractor) to improve safety and maintain progress on the project would be required on a daily basis.
