Traffic Signals Design Engineer
 
Are you an experienced Traffic Signals Design Engineer looking for a new role? 
 
As a Traffic Signals Design Engineer you will play a key role in the design, maintenance, and delivery of traffic signal infrastructure across the local road network, helping to improve road safety, reduce congestion, and support sustainable travel initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities:
·Design and develop traffic signal schemes for new installations, upgrades, and modifications across the borough.
·Prepare and review technical drawings, signal layouts, and electrical schematics using AutoCAD or equivalent design software.
·Carry out traffic signal assessments, including capacity and signal timing reviews, to improve junction performance and safety.
·Develop signal control strategies, including MOVA, SCOOT, and fixed-time plans, where applicable.
·Liaise with contractors, consultants, utility providers, and other departments to ensure successful project delivery.
·Ensure designs are compliant with relevant standards and guidance, including the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions (TSRGD), DMRB, and LoTAG.
 
Essential Experience:
·Experience in traffic signal design and operation, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment.
·Knowledge of traffic signal design standards and control systems (e.g. MOVA, SCOOT, UTC).
·Proficient in using AutoCAD or similar for design drawings.
