Health & Safety Manager - St Albans - £55,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Are you an experienced Health & Safety Manager looking to step into a pivotal role within a growing traffic management company? My client is offering a salary of £55,000 dependent on experience, alongside the opportunity to shape and influence H&S strategy within a respected and expanding business based in St Albans.
My client is a well-established traffic management company delivering services across highways and civil engineering projects. With a strong reputation for safety, compliance, and operational excellence, they are looking to strengthen their leadership team by appointing a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager.
In this Health & Safety Manager role, you will be working directly under the Director, supporting the management and continuous improvement of health and safety across the organisation. You will be a key figure in ensuring full compliance, promoting a positive safety culture, and embedding best practice across highways and civils operations.
You will be doing the following:
·Managing and developing company-wide health and safety systems and procedures
·Supporting the Director in overseeing H&S strategy and compliance
·Conducting site inspections across highways and civils projects
·Leading accident investigations and producing detailed reports
·Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
·Delivering toolbox talks and internal training sessions
·Reviewing and improving risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
·Acting as the main point of contact for all health and safety matters
To be successful as a Health & Safety Manager, you will need:
·Proven experience within highways and/or civil engineering environments
·Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
·Previous experience in a Health & Safety Manager or senior H&S advisory role
·Relevant health and safety qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent)
·Experience working within traffic management environments is highly desirable
·Excellent communication and leadership skills
·The ability to influence and engage teams at all levels
