The team are currently looking for a Traffic Engineer to join the Newcastle office to assist in the development of Road Safety Engineering schemes, such as traffic calming, pedestrian priority, 20mph zones as well as contributing to road safety audits and collision investigation work.
 
The team would like to hear from you if you have the following skills and abilities:

·The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of below:
·Over 3 years' experience in Traffic Engineering or Civil Engineering related activities.
· Good level of knowledge and experience of current Traffic Engineering technical and legal requirements and practices.
·Road Layout design, Road Safety and cycling infrastructure design.
·Be competent in the use of AutoCAD 2D (3D Desirable) for the development of schemes
·Be experienced in the use of AutoCAD, Swept Path Vehicle Software, and Traffic Engineering design software
· Be proficient in a wide range of IT skills including Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project)
·Experience of successfully developing other people.
·Hold a full UK driving licence.


Main responsibilities of the role:
·Take a key role in the delivery of Traffic Engineering ensuring quality and timely delivery are at the forefront.
·Ensure they are fully conversant with company requirements and contribute to effective project management.
·Assist in the development of links with other areas of the business to maximise Traffic Engineering opportunities.
·Engage with internal staff (in other Profit Centres) to develop and maintain relationships in similar fields and across other services.
·Ensure successful technical contributions to projects is provided.
·Work efficiently to contribute to ensuring that successful financial outcomes are achieved or exceeded for those projects worked on by the Assistant Engineer through sound business and financial understanding.
·Take a proactive approach to the reporting and mitigation of matters which present a risk to the achievement of successful delivery of projects.
·Ensure all projects/services are delivered in accordance with the BMS system
·Assist in the development of temporary and permanent traffic management schemes including parking schemes, permit parking, resident parking, the introduction of Traffic Regulation Orders and bus priority measures
·Assist in the development of highway design and junction improvements schemes.
·Assist in the development of traffic signing strategies and design.
·Support project engineers and deputise when appropriate
·The ability to maintain and develop excellent working relationships with peers in the Design Consultancy.
·A proactive approach to the delivery of Traffic Engineering and other engineering projects.
