Job description

We are working with a local authority in the South West to recruit an experienced Temporary Accommodation Officer. This is a key operational role supporting the delivery of high-quality temporary housing services, with a particular focus on lettings, onboarding new properties, and managing the needs of vulnerable residents.

This is a hybrid working position - typically 2-3 days per week in the office - and will involve regular travel across the area to inspect properties and meet clients. The role would suit someone with a strong background in tenancy management, lettings, and administration who enjoys a varied and hands-on working environment.

The Role
·Support the onboarding and setup of a large number of new temporary accommodation properties.
·Manage day-to-day operations related to lettings, void inspections, rent collection, and tenancy sustainment.
·Work directly with vulnerable households to provide advice, support, and practical assistance with housing-related issues.
·Maintain accurate administrative records and process housing referrals, tenancy agreements, and occupancy checks.
·Liaise with landlords, contractors, housing officers, and support services to ensure smooth property turnover and high standards.
·Assist with income management and respond to anti-social behaviour issues where necessary.
·Ensure that all temporary accommodation meets relevant health, safety, and housing standards.
·Maintain awareness of relevant legislation, council policies, and welfare benefits.

Key Requirements
·Experience supporting vulnerable individuals in housing, hostels, care, or similar settings.
·Working knowledge of homelessness legislation, tenancy sustainment, and welfare benefits.
·Good understanding of voids, lettings, rent collection, and ASB casework.
·Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload across multiple locations.
·Financial awareness, including managing orders, budgeting, and basic accounting tasks.
·Confident communicator with excellent mediation and negotiation skills.
·Ability to travel to properties across the local area as part of your core duties.
·Competent in Microsoft 365 and other standard office and housing management systems.
