Role: Road Surfacing Operations Manager
 
Location: Bedfordshire
 
About the company 
 
We are an independent company offering a regional road surfacing, reinstatement and civil's service. Its Management Team have together over 50 years' experience of working for Local Authorities including; - Bedford Borough Council - Buckingham County Council - Central Bedfordshire Council - Essex County Council - Hertfordshire County Council - London Borough of Barnet - London Borough of Brent - London Borough of Harringey - Stevenage Borough Council Both as Main Contractors and Sub-Contractors. We are currently working within the public & private sector within the Three Counties & Cambridgeshire areas. The company is well-appointed to carry out reinstatement and civil reinstatement works and can provide innovative use of recycled sub base materials as well as traditional surfacing macadams and asphalts.

The Role
 
·To support the Operations Director to manage the Operations team in successfully delivering all schemes, managing customer relationships to retain customers by meeting and exceeding expectations.
 
·You co-operate with us when we are discharging our statutory obligations, for example, we have a duty to complete Risk Assessments and ensure they are communicated to our workforce.  You then have a duty to comply with the controls stipulated in them, and where necessary, report to us that they are ineffective, out of date, or simply not suitable for the task, so that we can amend them to be suitable.
 
·You will be provided with multiple items of PPE/RPE and many other items of safety equipment in the course of your employment, you must not interfere with or alter the equipment outside of the supplier's recommendations for any reason.  You are expected to look after this equipment, ensure it remains serviceable at all times and report/replace damaged equipment immediately.
 
·You are expressly required to report to your supervisor/line manager anything that you believe to be unsafe in the course of your work. This includes unsafe working conditions, unsafe actions both of which can be considered near misses.
 
·During the course of your employment you will be expected to attend health and safety training courses, some of these are considered career progression courses and as such will be voluntary others are classed safety critical and will be compulsory.
 
 
Responsibilities
 
·Monitor and approve cost targets to maximise profitability
 
·Understand relevant Contract terms and conditions
 
·Take personal responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others by challenging, reporting and acting on any unsafe activities and conditions
 
·Deliver a customer focused service ensuring it is presented in a professional manner
 
·Ability to work in a complex service delivery environment to tight deadlines
 
·Writing and supporting others in the production of CPP's, Risk Assessments and Method Statements
 
·Keep accurate records of projects, schemes and completed works
 
·Ensure the company's Management Systems and processes are fully understood and adhered to by all on site.
 
·Assist the business to achieve and maintain ISO 9001, 45001 & NHSS:16 certification
