We are currently looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major highways scheme in Peterborough. This role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who has progressed into site leadership and is confident managing complex infrastructure works.

The Role:

You will be responsible for overseeing sections of highways works, managing subcontractors, and ensuring delivery aligns with programme, quality, and safety expectations. You'll work closely with the wider project team and client to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

·Engineering and site management of highways packages
·Management and coordination of multiple subcontractors
·Planning and managing short-term programmes
·Reviewing and approving RAMS, WPPs, and quality procedures
·Managing temporary works, traffic management, and site logistics
·Liaising with clients and stakeholders on design and delivery issues
·Supporting commercial awareness including change, variations, and reporting
·Ensuring compliance with QA processes and maintaining site records

About You:

We are looking for someone with a similar background to the current incumbent, including:
·Strong experience on highways and infrastructure projects
·Previous experience as a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer stepping up
·Proven ability managing multiple subcontractors and site teams
·Experience with temporary works coordination and quality assurance
·Confident liaising with clients and handling design queries
·Strong understanding of programme management and site delivery

Candidates with experience on large-scale highways schemes (e.g. £30m-£100m+) and working within structured project environments will be particularly well suited.

Requirements:

·Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
·CSCS card (essential)
·SMSTS (preferred)
·Temporary Works Coordinator (desirable)
