Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Structural Engineer with strong experience delivering both building projects and larger survey and refurbishment schemes to join a growing team.

In this role, you will assist in the delivery of a wide range of structural engineering services across a diverse portfolio of projects. The type of work spans large, complex developments through to smaller, client-focused commissions. Operating both in the UK and internationally, collaborating with a wide range of interesting clients, including Formula 1 teams, airports, schools and universities, contractors, developers and local authorities.

Responsibilities 

  • Prepare outline designs for structural schemes based on client briefs
  • Carry out detailed design calculations in accordance with Eurocodes using the latest 3D design software
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines and specialists using BIM
  • Assist in the production of detailed design drawings and specifications for tender purposes
  • Visit sites during the construction phase to monitor progress and provide technical input
  • Undertake structural surveys of existing buildings and provide professional advice on any issues identified
  • Analyse and report on structural defects in existing buildings and structures
  • Review and check outgoing and incoming project documentation, including contractors' proposals

Skills and Experience Required

  • A sound understanding of fundamental structural behaviour
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a problem-solving mindset
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, both within the structures team and across the wider business, as well as with clients and collaborators
  • A degree in Structural or Civil Engineering and working towards professional chartership status
  • Proven experience in structural design, alongside relevant site experience within a construction environment
  • A good understanding of basic regulatory requirements, including Eurocodes
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and professional reports and technical documentation
