Exciting Opportunity for a Street Lighting Engineer in the East Midlands
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a delivery-focused Street Lighting Engineer to join my client's established highways team on a temporary contract, supporting street lighting and exterior lighting projects across the East Midlands.
THIS ROLE REQUIRES ONLY 1 DAY P/WEEK IN THE OFFICE
The main duties of the Street Lighting Engineer are:
·Lead on the delivery of street lighting maintenance and improvement schemes across the highway network.
·Oversee contractor performance, ensuring works are completed to specification, safety standards, and within budget.
·Manage and review street lighting inventory, condition data, and asset management plans.
·Prepare and review design documents, work packages, and project scopes for lighting schemes.
·Support the resolution of site queries, technical issues, and non-conformance reports during delivery.
·Collaborate with internal teams, service providers, and third-party contractors to ensure efficient project progress.
·Assist in the procurement, mobilisation, and monitoring of term maintenance street lighting contracts.
The Street Lighting Engineer will have key experience in:
·Previous experience working in street lighting engineering or exterior lighting projects within a local authority, consultancy, or contractor environment.
·Strong knowledge of street lighting standards including BS 5489 and the use of lighting design software such as Lighting Reality.
·Familiarity with asset management systems, inspection processes, and street lighting inventory tools.
·Understanding of contract management principles, including experience with PFI or external maintenance contracts.
·Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
·Ability to work autonomously and contribute from day one, given the urgent nature of the appointment.
·Ideally working towards or holding EngTech, IEng, or equivalent professional status with ILP or ICE.
