Site Manager - Power Generation

Location: Staffordshire and Nation wide
Salary: TBC

Carrington West are pleased to be working on some exciting new roles with our client, a leading technology company providing automation, control and IT services to multiple heavy engineering sectors.  They are working within multiple frameworks to help deliver cutting edge technology to help modernise highly regulated industries such as water and power.

Our client are looking for experienced Site Managers with a strong background in Electrical Engineering  and experience of working on National Grid Electricity Substations. The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly from home, the company offices in staffordshire or the Customers sites depending upon work requirements. Responsible for all site related aspects of delivering E,C & I projects Safely to cost, time and specification, the successful candidate will be required to visit sites around the country

Role responsibilities:

  • Managing the installation and customer acceptance of Substation Control and Protection System projects in accordance with National Grid safety standards and local site work practices.
  • Responsible for leading and motivating the project team of software and hardware engineers during the site installation and commissioning phases of the project.
  • Control and management of installation sub-contractors which is typically cable installation and minor electrical/mechanical works.
  • Undertake egular report and progress meetings with clients including production of related minutes
  • Liaise with Health and Safety Manager regarding all aspects of welfare on site.
  • Work closely with the Project Management to ensure sufficient resources are planned for site work to enable delivery to cost, budget and quality
  • Be available to assist with Electrical Installation/Test/Commissioning activities
  • Understand customer requirements, undertake site surveys and produce electrical drawings/installation specification.
  • Undertake Risk Assessments and produce Method Statements, Create / input into project safety health and environmental plans.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of managing E, C & I installation and commissioning activities including Substation Control Systems, Protections systems or similar on National Grid Sites
  • Current "National Grid Competent Person"
  • Either TP144 or TP137.11 Certification
  • To have successfully completed Client Contractors National Safety Group Safety Passport Supervisor training
  • First Aid at Work Certificate
  • Must be prepared to travel and work away at customer sites
  • Full UK driving licence
