Job description

We are recruiting  experienced Service Charge Manager to lead a well-established and friendly team of six. This is a key strategic role focused on the accurate delivery of service charge budgets and actuals, legislative compliance, and clear, customer-focused financial reporting.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to take ownership of a high-profile area within housing finance. The initial contract is expected to be extended and offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

The Role
·Oversee the full service charge cycle, including setting of annual budgets and reconciliation of actuals.
·Ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance in the production of all service charge-related communications to residents and leaseholders.
·Provide leadership, training, and support to a team of six, fostering a collaborative and high-performing working culture.
·Ensure robust understanding and application of relevant legislation around rents, charges, residential leases, and freehold transfers.
·Work closely with internal departments (e.g. Housing, Repairs, Estates, and Finance) to validate service charge inputs and resolve anomalies.
·Maintain and improve systems for managing service charge data; ensure accurate record-keeping and efficient reporting processes.
·Attend evening meetings face-to-face as required to support resident engagement and governance.

Key Requirements
·Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior service charge role within the social housing sector.
·Strong background in budget setting and service charge actuals reconciliation.
·Good knowledge of residential leases, freehold transfers, and service charge/rent legislation.
·Effective team leader with prior experience managing and developing staff.
·Proficient in Microsoft Excel and housing management/finance systems.
·A relevant accounting qualification (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA) is beneficial but not essential.
·Clear communicator, with confidence in attending resident meetings and presenting technical financial information in a user-friendly way.
·Organised, analytical, and committed to high standards of financial governance and resident service.
