My Client are a leading, international premier infrastructure firm, delivering professional services. The projects vary from transportation, buildings, water, governments, energy and the environment.
The team in Bristol are currently looking to expand their Traffic Team and looking specifically for a Senior Engineer on a permanent basis. The company offer a fantastic flexible working policy and will accommodate flexible and remote working. The team in Bristol provides concept, preliminary and detailed design and network modelling on a wide range of projects for local authorities and the private sector as well as supporting other business lines where their projects have a specialised traffic and highways interface.
The large multi-discipline office is situated just a few minutes' walk from Temple Meads Station and the vibrant city centre which boasts a fantastic range of shopping and eating and drinking establishments.
Projects
You will be joining an established team that will be involved in the winning and delivery of projects and services to a range of both local and national clients including:
·Local Authority Clients in the South West Region including WECA, Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, Cardiff County Council and Cornwall Council
·Transport for London
· Midlands Highways Alliance
·Wessex Water
Some of the projects you will work on and lead include:
·Bickland Water Road. You will lead on the project management and act as design lead to a small team of technicians working on the scheme. 
·Cycle scheme for Cornwall County Council
·A4 Corridor to Emery Road
·The company are also bidding on a multi-million pound scheme, developing detailed design packages for approximately 5km of a city centre.
·As well as these schemes the successful candidate will also be involved in ad-hoc schemes for South Gloucestershire Council.
You will:
 
- Undertake Design Lead duties in the preparation of preliminary & detailed design and project delivery of traffic engineering, local transport, urban design/streetscape and local authority/municipal highway schemes
- Financial and programme management
- Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for safety, health, and the environment in the design
- Ensure the technical content and quality of all outputs are in line with the project brief, design regulations and standards, and reviewing the work of others
- Preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required.
- Share knowledge to ensure the wider team are up to date with current best practice, techniques, and innovation
- Taking responsibility for own career and professional development
- Supporting the career planning, training, and development of team members
- Support Senior Management of local team including recruitment
- Input into detailed client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to major bids
 
Requirements
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge of developing detailed design solutions to traffic engineering problems
- Knowledge and experience in the following aspects: cycling design, traffic calming, drainage, junction design, and footway and carriageway improvement design
- Ability to demonstrate understanding and application of relevant design standards and regulations.
- Proven ability of leading single and multi-disciplined projects as Design / Technical Lead
- Experience of dealing directly with Clients, Local Authorities and Key Stakeholders
- Demonstrate an awareness of project management and project planning
- Understanding of Health and Safety requirements including CDM responsibilities
- Excellent technical and communication skills and ability to work well within a team
Preferred Qualifications
- BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Engineering or another relevant qualification.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards an appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
Desirable skills:
Whilst not essential any of the following skills would be desirable:
- 3D Design (MX or Civils 3D)
- Specialist traffic/highway engineering knowledge.
- Urban Design/Streetscape.
- Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM).
- Highways asset management, maintenance and whole life design considerations.
- Appreciation of traffic modelling outputs.
- CSCS Card holder
