Senior Quantity Surveyor - Power
 
Salary: £500 to  £625 per day via Umbrella.
Location: Glasgow area
Contract length - Initially to December 2024 to be reviewed.
 
Carrington West are pleased to present an exciting role for experience professionals within the power sector. Working alongside our client, a well-established main contractor, we are recruiting for experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

You will actively assist the Commercial / Framework team to maximise profit and reduce risk. Involving managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met effectively and efficiently and outcomes are achieved.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Active participation in the production of weekly and monthly project financial and forecast cost and value reports for analysis with the finance and commercial teams and compile / support framework forecasts.
  • Support the delivery team with regard to recovery of contract costs together with enhancing project profit by identifying variations, delays and claims.  Advising the wider project team on contractual requirements and changes to standard form.
  • Support project compliance with contractual requirements including the issuing of Notices within prescribed timescales.
  • Maintaining accurate commercial / project records within identified remit and ensure others are completing their required records.  Maintaining a robust archiving process to ensure retention of information.
  • Valuing of planned and reactive works to maximise income and cashflow, supporting the production and submission of applications for payment in accordance with contractual requirements to minimise WIP.  Identification, measurement and valuation of additional works and monitoring team performance against budget.
  • Coordination with all members of the commercial and finance team to ensure appropriate commercial cover is maintained and all functional roles and responsibilities are performed to the highest standard.
  • Responsibility for all sub-contractor account management.  Effective procurement to timescales and within governance, producing all necessary documentation to select and secure services.  Being accountable for monthly assessments, change and/or claim assessments and final account agreements and ensuring that the delivery teams are informed of subcontractor attendances and inclusions / exclusions.
  • Work closely with the finance team in respect of control and forecast of project expenditure, monitoring actual expenditure against forecast, checking site costs and highlighting errors and/or anomalies.


Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Knowledge and working experience of the NEC suite of Contracts
  • Previous framework experience within the utilities sector would be advantageous.
  • Relevant degree qualification
  • Skilled in contract costing and forecasting
  • Subcontract procurement and administration
  • Contract experience, supporting a project team in capturing site records for variations and valuations.
