Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Permanent) - London (Head Office)
Are you a senior civil engineer looking to take the next step in your career with a forward-thinking, employee-owned consultancy? This is an excellent opportunity to join the head office in London, playing a key role in shaping the delivery of high-quality infrastructure design projects for major UK developers.
Our client is a respected engineering consultancy that values work-life balance, collaboration, and long-term career development. With a healthy project pipeline and a growing national presence, they are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their central London team and contribute to the continued success of the infrastructure division.
About the Role
You will take a lead role in delivering complex development infrastructure projects-ranging from small residential schemes to multi-phase developments of several thousand units. The work spans feasibility, planning, detailed design, and construction support, and you'll be instrumental in mentoring junior staff and supporting project delivery across the office.
With the infrastructure team continuing to grow, this position offers the opportunity to shape project strategy, influence team development, and contribute to business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the design and delivery of development infrastructure projects across drainage, highways, and utilities.
·Oversee project delivery from feasibility to construction, ensuring high standards of design and client satisfaction.
·Provide day-to-day support, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
·Check and review technical drawings, reports, and calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant standards.
·Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders, taking responsibility for technical negotiations and submissions (S104, S38, S278).
·Prepare fee proposals, manage budgets, and contribute to business development activities.
·Support the preparation of planning documents including Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Technical Notes, and Utilities Statements.
·Lead or support due diligence reviews and site appraisals.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and motivated engineer with the following:
·A degree in Civil Engineering (or similar), ideally working towards or already chartered (ICE or similar).
·Significant experience in development infrastructure projects, ideally gained in a consultancy environment.
·Strong working knowledge of MicroDrainage and AutoCAD; experience with Civils 3D would be a distinct advantage.
·Sound understanding of planning and detailed design processes, including securing technical approvals for S104, S38, and S278.
·Excellent communication skills, with confidence in leading meetings and liaising with clients and external stakeholders.
·A proactive attitude, with the ability to manage workload, support junior staff, and contribute to team growth.
Benefits
·Based at the central London head office, with the option to work from home 2 days per week.
·Competitive salary reviewed annually in July, based on individual and company performance.
·37.5-hour work week with flexible start and finish times.
·Paid overtime or time off in lieu for hours above 37.5 (subject to approval).
·Annual tax-free bonuses via the Employee Ownership Trust (after 12 months of service), typically paid in July and December (subject to performance).
·Auto-enrolment pension scheme with 5% employer contribution (after 3-month probation).
·25 days annual leave, increasing to 26 after 2 years of continuous service, plus bank holidays.
·Cycle-to-work salary sacrifice scheme.
·Professional subscription fees paid (e.g. ICE).
·Interest-free annual travel season ticket loan.
·Access to "You At Work" benefits platform - including gym discounts, retail offers, financial advice, and private GP appointments.
·Ongoing learning and development support with clear progression pathways.
·Fully funded company-wide social events throughout the year.
