What we need:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Highways Technician to join our team in the role of inspecting and reporting on highway defects reported by the public. The successful candidate will work closely with our team of engineers and other technicians to ensure that our highways are safe and accessible to the public. This job is OUTSIDE IR35 and we can pay into a limited company.

What you will do:
·Conducting inspections of highways, including roads, footpaths, and cycleways, to identify defects and other issues
·Recording and reporting defects to the relevant department within the council
·Liaising with other council departments and contractors to ensure timely repairs of defects
·Ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations
·Conducting surveys and investigations to identify the cause of defects and recommend appropriate repairs
·Providing technical advice and support to other council departments, contractors, and members of the public

What you will need:
·A relevant technical qualification, such as an HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or similar
·A minimum of five years of experience working in a similar role within a local authority or consultancy environment
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to a range of stakeholders
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and investigate complex technical issues
·Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations, including the Highways Act 1980
·Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, and experience with highway management systems is desirable.
