Senior Design Engineer - Highways
 
We are recruiting a Senior Design Engineer to lead the delivery of highway improvement, maintenance, and traffic engineering schemes. This is a key role for a highly experienced engineer with responsibility for technical design, team leadership, and project delivery across multiple schemes.
 
Key Responsibilities
·Lead and co-ordinate multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver highway projects on time, to cost, and to quality standards
·Conduct technical design checks and ensure compliance with internal quality and safety processes
·Manage staff performance, training, and development, including mentoring junior engineers
·Build and maintain strong client relationships, collaborating to define project objectives and deliverables
·Plan and allocate resources effectively, including sub-consultants and external partners
·Ensure legal compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation in design and construction
·Oversee commercial performance and support programme management
Requirements
·Chartered Engineer (CEng) or highly experienced engineer working towards CEng (10+ years in highways design)
·Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary highway projects to meet programme, cost, and quality expectations
·Strong highways design and construction knowledge, including review of design outputs
·Experience with NEC contracts and Local Highway Authority standards
·Knowledge of highway design guidance: DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, and other relevant codes of practice
·Proven track record in mentoring and developing staff
·Strong commercial awareness and H&S management in design and construction
·Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD / Civil 3D experience desirable
