The team in Cardiff are currently looking for a Senior Technician to work as part of the Highways team to deliver a range of projects for a range of public and private sector clients. The team are seeking to strengthen their delivery capacity and require an enthusiastic applicant to progress the design of infrastructure projects.
 
The team would like to hear from you if you have the following skills and abilities:
 
·Civil Engineering HNC/HND qualification or similar
·Eligible for EngTech or working towards IEng MICE
·Extensive ability using AutoCAD.
·Experience with Civil 3D, PDS, MicroDrainage software to support design
·Excellent organisational and organisational skills
·Experience over a range of civil engineering and transport disciplines such as: cycle and pedestrian network delivery, public transport networks and interchanges including Park and Ride, highways and junctions.
·Experience in PDF software and revision workflows including mark-ups
·Experience with collaboration management software packages and processes
 
Desirable Qualifications/Experience/Skills:
 
Ability to use Bentley Software would be an advantage
·Experience of liaising and working with partners and agencies.
·Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences both verbally and in writing
 
Main responsibilities of the role:
·You will assist an Engineering team with feasibility studies, conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of a range of civil engineering and highway projects.
·You should have working knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures.
·You should have an extensive working knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement.
·You will be required to liaise with Clients, Stakeholders, and the public on projects.
·You should demonstrate experience in the following:
§Ability to deal appropriately and effectively with external organisations, statutory bodies and clients;
§Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, cost estimates, investigating problems, and identifying of options;
§Knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidelines including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, Eurocodes and Codes of Practice;
§Initiative and ingenuity in solving engineering problems;
§Capability to use AutoCAD software in the preparation of designs and drawings.
