Senior Civil Engineer - Leeds | Infrastructure, Highways, Drainage
Location: Leeds
Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Level: Senior
Sector: Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Design
Are you a Senior Civil Engineer ready to take the lead on transformative infrastructure projects? Our client - a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with a strong pipeline of work - is looking for an ambitious and experienced engineer to join their growing Leeds office.
This is your opportunity to step into a highly visible role where you'll lead the design and delivery of highways, drainage, utilities, and development infrastructure projects across the UK. You'll be joining a forward-thinking business that values innovation, technical excellence, and collaboration - all while enjoying real flexibility, clear progression pathways, and a supportive team culture.
What You'll Be Doing:
·Take full ownership of projects from inception to completion, ensuring financial performance, design integrity, and client satisfaction.
·Lead the design and coordination of highways, drainage schemes, and utility infrastructure for both public and private sector developments.
·Produce and review engineering designs, drawings, calculations, reports, and other technical documentation to the highest standards.
·Attend design meetings and site inspections, carrying out risk assessments and ensuring compliance with CDM 2015 and other statutory regulations.
·Act as a mentor to junior engineers and technicians, supporting their development through hands-on guidance and technical reviews.
·Support project management and commercial activities, including the preparation of fee proposals, bids, and tender documents.
·Represent the consultancy in client meetings, contributing to strategic decisions and strengthening key relationships.
·Get involved in business development - identifying opportunities, supporting bids, and helping the company grow its presence in the North of England.
What We're Looking For:
·Proven experience in civil infrastructure design, with a strong grasp of highways, drainage, and utilities coordination.
·Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation, CDM regulations, and industry standards.
·Proficient in design software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage (or InfoDrainage), Navisworks - and ideally Revit.
·Chartered or Incorporated Membership of ICE or IStructE (or actively working towards it).
·Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
·A proactive mindset with a passion for quality design and continuous improvement.
What's In It for You:
·A competitive salary and benefits package
·Hybrid working (typically 2-3 days in-office) to support your work-life balance
·Ongoing CPD and tailored progression opportunities to help you achieve chartered status if not already attained
·A culture that prioritises employee wellbeing, diversity, and career development
·Regular team socials, knowledge-sharing sessions, and the chance to work on award-winning projects
