Senior Bridge Engineer
 
Are you an experienced structures engineer looking for new opportunity?
 
An exciting full-time permanent opportunity has become available for a Senior Structures engineer to join a client in Bristol. You will have the opportunity to lead a team who manage promote, plan, organise, and supervise the full delivery of all aspects of the Structures related Asset Inspection and monitoring programmes. This includes asset databases management, asset reporting to achieve all service delivery targets, and all relevant statutory licensing requirements.
 
You will be the Senior Lead Technical Officer in relation to all Structural Development Works, as well as the administration and management of all Technical Approval in Principle (AIP) Approval process, for any new structural Development proposals within Transport Operations.
 
Key job outcomes/accountabilities
·To be the Senior Lead Officer responsible for:
·The effective management and development for the delivery of all allocated Annual statutory Structures cyclical Inspection Programmes, monitoring regimes and all associated inspection Budgets, within allocated funding.
·The Technical Approval of all Highway Structures related matters through the procedure adopted using the AIP.
·The administration of all structural Licencing requirements associated with Statutory Duties relating to the 1980 Highways Act.
·Negotiating, monitoring, and managing Transport's portfolio of supplier Inspection contracts/Suppliers to secure the overall programmed improvements and other benefits set out in each contract and Supplier.
Key job outcomes/accountabilities
·Working with colleagues and stakeholders in Transport to ensure that suppliers meet the appropriate standards.
·Undertake projects and re-engineering processes to achieve targeted performance improvements.
·Optimise the efficiency, effectiveness, and economy of the service/relationship described by each contract, balancing costs against risks, and actively managing the customer provider relationship.
·Attend and ensure; formal contract Asset management meetings with the supplier and appropriate Officers in Transport are held to an agreed schedule, based on a fixed meeting agenda complying with the corporate standard, records of performance reviews are maintained on corporate systems, reports and statistics are prepared for senior management team, Members and other stakeholders covering all aspects of service performance.
·Responsible for the service performance of specific aspects of service delivery, monitoring to ensure consistent cost-effective high-quality services, and that core service charges are checked and approved for payment.
·Responsible for ensuring effective and productive relationships with suppliers, senior officers, and Members are created and maintained, to ensure service delivery objectives and targets are achieved, and responsible for ensuring that contractual clauses are reviewed and interpreted with support from Legal Services.
·Undertake projects and re-engineering processes to achieve targeted performance improvements.
·Be the Senior Lead Officer responsible for the development of specific expertise in the team's overall Inspection programme, with the aim of becoming a source of authoritative advice and guidance to current and future project development teams, within Transportation.
·Contributing to the development of service improvement and quality assurance regarding allocated functions, to respond to operational needs, and maximise service provision by creating, developing, and implementing innovative working solutions.
·Communicate and interpret a range of technical transport related information from internal sources or external stakeholders to progress the work of the team.
