Job description

I am currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor for an exciting permanent position in the South West of England.

My client is looking for an experienced QS to join there commercial team.

As Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for delivering all commercial aspects relating to highways maintenance, routine activities and street lighting.

As the Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will include:
·Cost and Value management
·Assist with providing commercial and financial reporting information
·Work with the operations team to prepare clear and accurate quarterly forecasts
·Management and recording of changes including submission and agreement of early warning notices, compensation events, and quotations
·Ensure compliance with standards and procedures in respect of Commercial activities
·Cradle to grave commercial management of schemes - from initial estimate to final account
·Working with the Client to understand their needs, advise on commercial matters, and identify potential cost saving opportunities
·Implement commercial processes to ensure contractual entitlement is realised
·Subcontract procurement and management
·Monthly cost and value reconciliation & management
·Work within strict deadlines required under the contract and required by the company
·Site visits
·Ad hoc commercial duties as job required


Skills & Knowledge Requirements
·Degree or equivalent level qualification in Quantity Surveying or related construction subject
·Relevant CSCS Card
·Good level of identifiable commercial experience within the construction industry
·Good command and communication of oral and written English
·Skilled negotiator and communicator
·Good people/management/organisational skills
·Demonstrable highway maintenance and civil engineering experience preferably with a contracting organisation
·Good knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
·IT proficient, particularly in MS Office
