Job Opportunity: Project Manager
Location: Warrington
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum plus package
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Project Manager seeking a new challenge? Join one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over a century of industry expertise.
About the Role:
Location: Based in the Warrington office, with occasional travel to regional offices and client/vendor sites across the UK.
Project Scope:
·Manage projects ranging from £250K to £15m.
·Handle approximately £1.5m to £5m in projects per year, typically up to 15 projects in your portfolio.
·Projects include off-site build and installation of LV assemblies, as well as multi-year migration and electrical installations.
Organisational Structure: Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with Key Account Managers, Project Managers, Project Engineers, internal teams, and clients to ensure effective project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Delivery:
·Perform typical project management tasks such as creating detailed programmes, issuing Early Warnings, costing and submitting Variations, and forecasting.
·Monitor the overall commercial performance of projects, maintaining accurate cost-to-complete forecasts and raising awareness of potential issues.
·Evaluate project early warnings, compensation events, and variations, communicating these to the client and delivery teams.
·Highlight project risks or delays to all stakeholders.
·Communicate programme and progress with internal stakeholders and the client, ensuring project programmes and updates are current and relevant.
·Ensure project design reviews are carried out and that the project adheres to quality procedures.
·Support Project Coordinators or Administrators in completing routine administrative tasks.
·Ensure all teams are clear on the scope, programme of works, and technical content, addressing any changes in a timely manner.
·Act as the main point of contact for clients, escalating significant issues to Key Account Managers or the Operations Manager.
Commercial:
·Support Key Account Managers in new project bids and quotes by identifying project management requirements and costs.
·Ensure all contractual obligations are met, including formal communications, timely invoicing, and proper change management.
·Provide regular summary progress reports across all projects, highlighting technical and commercial performance.
·Ensure project commercial data is up-to-date, and escalate significant issues or risks as needed.
Health and Safety:
·Fulfill the requirements of CDM Principal Contractor and Designer.
·Develop Health and Safety documentation for site works, ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements are prepared and issued.
·Assign responsible persons to oversee site activities, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities.
·Escalate Health and Safety issues to the Operations Manager immediately.
·Conduct periodic site safety inspections (typically once per quarter).
Skills & Experience:
Essential Skills:
·Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
·Positive, approachable, and willing to help.
·Strong interpersonal and IT skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project.
·Ability to act on own initiative and communicate effectively at all levels.
Special Features:
·Commercial awareness.
·Team player.
·Appreciation of electrical installations and control systems preferred.
·Willingness to participate in annual performance reviews and training courses.
Qualifications:
·ONC/HNC/Degree in electrical, measurement, or control engineering, or related discipline.
·Good basic education, particularly in English.
·Preferred Project Management skills: APM or Prince 2 practitioner.
·Preferred SSSTS/SMSTS and CDM principal contractor qualifications or experience.
Job Related Experience:
·Minimum 2 years as a Project Manager within a medium or large organisation, or 4 years as an Assistant Project Manager or similar role.
