Principal Planning Officer
Initial 2-month Contract
Devon
£35-£45 per hour - DOE - Outside IR35
 
Carrington West are assisting their LPA client in Devon in their search for a Principal Level Planner, on an initial 2-month contract to cover Permanent recruitment period.
 
Site visits for the role will be required on a weekly basis so it is important that candidates have a full driving license and access to a car. The length of the post could last longer that the initially offered contract, it wholly depends on the permanent recruitment process.
 
As Principal Planner you will be responsible for:
 
·Dealing with applications for planning permission, advertisement consent, Listed Building consent, consent to fell trees, etc, including; site inspections, negotiations with applicants/agents, consultations with appropriate departments, organisations, individuals, writing reasoned justifications and formulating recommendations for consideration by Development Management Committee and Service Lead - Planning Strategy and Development Management.
·Monitoring and reviewing progress of planning applications and enforcement matters within your team(s).
 
·Preparing and presenting the Local Planning Authority's case in connection with Appeals against the decisions of the Local Planning Authority.
 
·The review and organisation of work streams in the teams to ensure efficient processing times which meet the needs of the applicants and those seeking information and Members wishing to be involved in the planning process.
 
Due to the management nature of the role, previous experience of overseeing staff would be beneficial.
