Principal Highways/Traffic Engineer

My client is part of a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, providing specialist Highways, Traffic, Transportation and Water Engineering consultancy services to a broad range of domestic and large commercial clients.

The role is for a Principal Highway Detailed Design Engineer (Team Leader Position) who will head one of the teams which consist of two to four engineers and technicians working on the design and procurement of highway and infrastructure projects
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
·Manage and review the preparation of designs, drawings and reports for a variety of highway and infrastructure proposals
·Preparation of site appraisals for residential developments
·Undertake feasibility and pre-planning assessments of engineering infrastructure.
·Liaison with clients, regulators and other stakeholders
·Management and mentoring of engineers and technicians and reviewing technical outputs.
·Project management, team management and budgetary control
·Business development through client liaison, networking and preparation of bids and proposals
 
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
 
·Civil Engineering degree/HND educated in a relevant discipline
·Chartered or working towards chartered status with a recognized professional institution (e.g. ICE or IHE or CIHT) is desirable
·Excellent knowledge of infrastructure design at concept, feasibility and preliminary level
·Good knowledge of relevant policy and design standards (e.g. DMRB, Sewers for Adoption)
·Experience in the design and supervision of adopted drainage and highways
·Experience of NEC3 contracts and complying with Designer Duties under CDM
·Competent in the use of AutoCAD, PDS/3D Civils and WinDes Microdrainage
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
