Principal Engineer - Highways
           This is an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer to work for a well established London based transport consultancy. As a dynamic and growing company our future is being built around a team of the very best people.
The team of 55 are working on some of the most exciting and challenging development planning and infrastructure projects in London, Europe and across the world, from large commercial skyscrapers to sport stadiums and major events projects in London. OUR OPPORTUNITY
·Your role will include leading others in the engineering design, technical analysis, research, forecasting, modelling and calculations, and reporting as required to support our clients in delivering highways, streets and transport infrastructure schemes. You will be responsible for the checking and approval of deliverables in accordance with our quality assurance processes.
·You will manage a wide range of projects with autonomy, and be the primary point of contact with clients.
·In your role as a personal supervisor, you will be responsible for the progression and support of members of the team, and ensuring they have the training, responsibility and opportunities they need to develop and thrive in their career.
·With support from your directors, you will take a leading role in the engineering team with respect to team resourcing, ensuring compliance with company policies, team development and growth. You will have responsibility for the development of our business capabilities, both technical and non-technical, in areas such as BIM, QMS, EMS and health and safety.  
·You will take a pro-active role in developing business in line with the business strategy. This will include building existing client relationships, and developing new ones. You will attend and support relevant conferences, seminars and networking events.
WHO YOU ARE
You will be a self-starter, love working in a hard working team and have a passion for the urban built environment, transport and highway infrastructure engineering and its challenges.
You will be able to demonstrate the following:
·You have a Civil Engineering degree, equivalent, or experience in similar technical engineering discipline
·Will be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (with the ICE/CIHT/similar)
·Ability to develop transport and highway infrastructure schemes from concept through to detailed design
·Ability to design all aspects of S278 schemes, urban street and highway schemes
·Ability to work independently
·Ability to oversee, check and approve the work of others
·Ability to successfully manage a range of projects, including resources, budgets and programmes
·Ability to successfully support the work and career progression of others
·Ability to successfully manage and build effective client relationships
·You have strong written and verbal communication skills
·You will have strong numeracy and analytical skills
·Ability to develop and review designs in Civils3D and AutoCAD
·Experience of working across Microsoft Office and AutoDesk platforms
Desirable skills and experience:
·Experience in urban and public realm design
·Drainage design experience, and use of WinDes
·Experience in negotiating S278 agreements
·Experience in construction logistics and traffic management design support
·On site delivery experience, knowledge of scheme implementation, inspections, resident engineer duties
·Business development and client relationship development
