Position Overview:
My client is seeking a driven and experienced Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to help grow and establish a civil engineering team in their new Manchester office. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious individual who will have the opportunity to lead and develop a new team, working closely with the established team in the Chester office. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality civil engineering projects, driving the expansion of the Manchester office, and supporting business growth in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
·Team Leadership & Growth: Lead the development of the civils team in Manchester, managing existing staff and supporting recruitment to grow the team. Work closely with the Chester office to align goals and ensure resource-sharing across locations.
·Project Management: Oversee the delivery of civil engineering projects, including highways, drainage, earthworks, and utilities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
·Technical Delivery: Lead the technical design and delivery of infrastructure projects using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage. Ensure designs meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
·Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the main point of contact in the Manchester office. Attend client meetings, provide regular updates, and ensure the delivery of exceptional client service.
·Business Development: Assist in identifying new business opportunities and contributing to proposals and bids. Leverage your network to help grow the Manchester office's client base.
·Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in the Chester office and across the business to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with broader business goals.
·Mentorship: Mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to their professional development and the overall success of the team.
Qualifications and Skills:
·Education: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership is highly desirable.
·Experience: At least 8 years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong track record in delivering infrastructure projects, including drainage, highways, and earthworks.
·Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage is essential.
·Leadership: Proven experience in team leadership or project management, with the ability to inspire and grow a new team.
·Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
·Business Acumen: Experience in business development and the ability to help secure new projects and clients.
·Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
