Location: Brighton
Rate: up to £450 p/d - Inside IR35
Duration: 12 Months

Experienced construction Project Manager? Worked within the water sector before?
 
Our client are a large tier 1 contractor, with a great reputation across the national water industry. Working in partnership with several large organisations in the sector to bring the UK a solid platform to develop from.
 
We are currently working on a recruitment drive for their projects with Southern Water, working on multiple planning projects for new build and maintenance of Water Treatment works (WTW), Sewage treatment facilities and Pumping Stations across the south coast.
 
Our client are based in a modern office near Brighton, where you will work with several different teams and collaborate as a group to ensure you provide the best service for Southern Water. There is also a large element of home working. The hours will be 40-45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
 
We are currently recruiting for Pre-construction build managers to ensure design is managed correctly, looking at the project commercially and managing the budget of the project. You will attend several client meetings/site visits and work with the other business partners. Projects range in value from £2 million to £30 million.
 
You will be dealing with the initial construction planning phase of these projects ensuring they are properly prepared to go to delivery.
 
The Role:
·Lead, motivate, support & develop the in-house delivered design, including associated site survey and investigation activities, to engender a constructive, problem solving, high achieving attitude matched by results.
·Manage all design and operational aspects (site surveys, site investigations etc.) of specific projects ensuring that they are on time, within planned costs, to the specifications and drawings and profitable to the agreed standard.
·Reduce, manage, and report on carbon on each project.
·Identify innovation and record and research undertaken during the project.
·Effectively manage customer & client relationships, playing an integral part in the preparation & presentation to the customer of company technical & commercial benefits.
·Effectively manage third party stakeholder relationships during the pre-construction stage of specific projects to obtain permissions, consents, approvals etc. required to enable successful project delivery following completion of the pre-construction stage contract.
·Compile and maintain a procurement schedule for each project.
·Manage and compile scope of works for all subcontracted and sub consultancy packages of work.
·Work closely with the estimating team to contribute to the preparation of accurate project estimates and bid documentation, and in obtaining subcontractor quotations, normalising these as required.
·Work closely with the planning team to ensure successful planning of the sequence of the work, establishment of key dates and the workforce required. Preparing contract compliant clause 31 and clause 32 programmes and maintaining these with the assistance of the planner.  
·Ensure that all Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental requirements pertaining to the pre-construction contract are in place and monitored.
·Work with the Commercial team on all Professional Services Contract related issues e.g. early warnings, compensation events, compensation events quotations, interim progress applications for payment on account for the services, negotiation and agreement of the final account, subcontractor accounts.
·Organise the pre-construction teams, their workload & work effectively with the required support.
·Monitor and ensure that the work of direct and sub-contract resource is being carried out to specification and programme, ensuring that defects are remedied and managed within the scope of the contract terms.
·Attainment of relevant targets and business goals, maximising contract profitability and maintaining margin.
·Production of reports, presentations and drawings/designs as required, including monthly Project Managers Reports (PMRs) for which you will be required to present the health of your projects.
 
Requirements:
 
·A specialist, with proven project management/contracting experience within the UK water industry, and coming from a Civils background.
·Excellent communication, leadership & people management skills.
·Experienced in implementing and maintaining HSQE and Management procedures & practices.
·Degree-level civil or electrical engineering qualification
·Strong analytical and technical skills
·Commercially and operationally aware
·Robust subcontract administration and management experience
·Proven ability to build strong relationships and exceed client expectations
·Knowledge of NEC 3 contract form, especially with regard to EWN/CE process
·Valid UK driving license
