Development Management Planning Officer
Liverpool
3-month initial Contract
Remote Working - Site visits required
Pay Rate Negotiable - DOE
 
We are currently looking for planners who are confident in looking after a case-load of householder and minor applications, committed and who can hit the ground running in this role.
 
The main responsibilities for the post-holder are:
 
·To use all resources (both time and financial) allocated to specific projects and areas of work effectively and efficiently in accordance with Service objectives and the Team's work programme.
 
·The assessing and processing of planning applications and applications for consent to display advertisements and demolish/alter Listed Buildings/Trees etc including: the carrying out of all necessary consultations and negotiations; the preparation of recommendations and reports; and attendance at Committee or Area Committee meetings as required.
 
·The pursuance of enforcement action in conjunction with the enforcement team in relation to unauthorised development and non-compliance with planning conditions.
 
·Dealing with appeals against planning decisions, including the preparation of the Council's case and the presenting of evidence at Public Inquiries and hearings, where appropriate.
 
·The preparation of site briefs to provide guidance to developers.
 
·Responding to development enquiries from within and outside the Council, including the provision of advice to the Land and Development Manager in respect of the Council's land holdings.
 
·The monitoring and review of development control policies and standards, in conjunction with the Plans and Development Team.
 
·Input to preparation and review of the Local Development Framework.
 
·To operate in accordance with objectives, targets and timescales required undertaking duties in accordance with regard to qualifications and experience.
 
·Contribute to sustainable development in all duties undertaken.
 
·Observe the City Council's Health & Safety Policy and ensuring that the working environment and practices are free from any undue hazards and dangers.
 
·Ensuring all Corporate policy statements are observed and carried out so that the working environment is free from harassment, discrimination and victimisation.
 
·To participate in all aspects of training and development of staff, including the maintenance of disciplinary standards, as directed.  Use all learning opportunities to develop personal skills necessary to improve effectiveness, efficiency, and delivery of service in recognition of the business and service targets.
