My client in the London, is seeking experienced Planning Conservation Officer - to work with the Planning Department on an initial 5 month contract.
 
Working within a small Conservation and Urban Design team, you'll play a proactive role in protecting and enhancing the Boroughs extensive historic built environment.
 
You'll be responsible for providing specialist advice and guidance on the full range of heritage matters, ensuring that the highest possible design standards are achieved within new development. In addition to providing advice to Development Management on all scales of proposals throughout the planning process, you'll also manage a diverse listed building caseload, and provide technical and design advice to listed building occupiers and those in conservation areas.
 
You will need to have an appropriate qualification in Building Conservation, Town Planning, Architecture or a related discipline. You'll need to demonstrate a proven ability to make competent decisions on listed building and conservation area related matters, complemented by a good understanding of current legislation, policy, guidance and best practice in relation to planning and heritage matters.
 
Good communication skills and the ability to respond confidently in a variety of situations are essential. We are ideally looking for someone who has experience of working on major planning applications, and who understands local authority policies and procedures.
 
Eligibility for membership of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) is desirable but not essential.
 
Full JD and PS can be supplied.
 
This role can be worked on a hybrid basis.
