Job description


With the increasing number / workload in pavement schemes an additional pavement resource is required to join my client in Birmingham.
 
Key responsibilities to include Identifying Network Needs, Pavement Condition Surveys, developing Thin Surfacing Treatment proposals.
 
Assisting the Asset Manager in understanding the pavement needs of the network and organising all the technical investigations and surveys to deliver pavement maintenance assessments that culminates in pavement scheme treatments/recommendation for BHL/BCC.      
 
Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:
 
Part of a team that will identify a rolling programme of pavement schemes and value management of the same, possibly incorporating the design requirements.
Work closely with the Asset Manager to identify opportunities to bring together pavement schemes with other assets for renewal.
Prepare pavement testing programmes.
Establish, develop and maintain good working relationships with the BCC Asset Team.
Identify and promote new ways of working and new materials, by working collaboratively with the BCC and the supply chain.
Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations
Actively promote Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.
 
Typical Skills/Experience as follows:
 
Advanced knowledge and practical experience in Pavement Engineering and Materials.
Significant experience of Value Managing pavement schemes.
Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably Chartered).
Knowledge of other highway assets and their association with pavement renewal. Improvement.
To be able to demonstrate working collaboratively with supply chain partners.
Project and programme management, with ability to use MS Project advantageous.
Undertaking services within an engineering environment which may include (but are not limited to); scheme investigation, site and structure inspections, data collection and analysis, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, preparation of tender documents.  
Managing the delivery of technical outputs of project teams.
Contributing to technical excellence and innovation across the team.
Providing technical input to brief responses and proposals for new work.
Ensuring that delivery is achieved in accordance with the company's management systems including Health and Safety, project and risk management.
