Interim Building Safety Lead
Warwick District Council
£400-£450p/d Umbrella (Inside IR35)
3-month initial contract - with potential for extension
Hybrid working - office presence required for collaboration and site-specific responsibilities
 
This local authority is looking for an experienced Building Safety Lead to champion compliance, build best practice, and act as the key contact with the Building Safety Regulator for High-Risk Residential Buildings.
 
What will you be doing?
·Leading on building and fire safety compliance across a broad housing portfolio, including 5,483 rented homes, 15 shared ownership properties, and 601 leaseholds
·Acting as the main point of contact for the Building Safety Regulator, overseeing reporting, performance, and assurance across HRRBs
·Owning the Asbestos Management Plan and supporting compliance with all property-related safety duties
·Advising and guiding senior leaders, contractors, and residents on fire and structural safety under the new Building Safety regime
·Coordinating cross-departmental relationships to avoid silos and promote consistent, risk-aware working practices
·Leading on health and safety-related policy, KPIs, training, and contract performance monitoring
·Supporting with internal reports and strategic planning as part of the wider Neighbourhood & Assets leadership team
·Helping embed a proactive culture of compliance, data transparency, and tenant engagement
 
What are we looking for?
To hit the ground running, you'll need:
 
·UK Resident
·NEBOSH General Certificate (essential); NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards) preferred
·Minimum 3 years' experience managing property compliance within a housing or local authority context
·Expertise in areas such as asbestos, legionella, fire risk, lifts, electrical, or gas safety
·Strong understanding of the new Building Safety legislation and Regulator expectations
·A collaborative mindset and confidence working with senior stakeholders, contractors, and tenants
·The ability to build systems, processes, and compliance frameworks from the ground up
·Experience managing contract performance, reporting KPIs, and leading health & safety audits
 
Bonus points if you hold additional certifications (e.g. P405, TechIOSH, CMIOSH, MIFireE) or have worked on ISO or FRA auditing frameworks.
