Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Homeless Intervention Caseworker to join a high-performing, award-nominated Housing Solutions team. Working within a forward-thinking Crisis Intervention Team, you will play a pivotal role in preventing and alleviating homelessness for single people across the local authority area.
This is a hands-on role combining complex casework with delegated leadership responsibilities. You'll support vulnerable individuals at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping, delivering person-centred, legally compliant advice and interventions under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996, and associated legislation.
You'll also act as an advanced practitioner within the team, offering mentoring, coaching, and guidance to other officers, and supporting senior staff with service improvement and operational duties.

Key Responsibilities
·Managing a personal caseload of complex homelessness cases, delivering early intervention and prevention support.
·Delivering expert housing advice to single individuals, using a trauma-informed and client-focused approach.
·Providing delegated support to the Team Leader and Senior Officer - including coaching, mentoring, and occasional senior duty cover.
·Leading by example in service delivery, driving quality and consistency through shared best practices.
·Contributing to case reviews and complex decision-making.
·Participating in an out-of-hours rota for emergency homelessness responses.
·Supporting delivery of strategic priorities and team KPIs.
·Working flexibly across the Central Bedfordshire area - access to a vehicle is essential.

About You
We are looking for someone with a strong legal grounding in homelessness and housing law, alongside practical experience in frontline service delivery. You'll be confident handling complex cases and offering support to colleagues in a collaborative, developmental environment.
You will have:
·Excellent knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996 (Part 7), Equality Act 2010, and related legislation.
·A strong grasp of associated legal frameworks including landlord & tenant law, safeguarding, Care Act, and welfare benefits.
·Effective communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
·The ability to work independently while supporting a wider team culture of learning and growth.
·A resilient and solution-focused approach to complex cases and service delivery.
