Job description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highways Inspector to join a market leading consultancy to work on the A465 project in south Wales. This is an initial 9 month contract, working Monday to Friday with the opportunity for night and weekend work. This position is based on site and falls inside IR35.
 
Responsibilities
 
·Inspector working as part of the Designer's Site Representative team to ensure that these Works are constructed:
oin accordance with the certified design and appropriate standards; and
oin accordance with Contractors' quality systems (Inspection Test Plan [ITP] etc)
·Review the appropriate Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), prior to monitoring the works, providing comments to the Contractor on perceived issues with compliance with the certified design and / or concerns over safety;
·Attendance/review and signing of ITP/Checklists for Witness (of tests), Inspection / Surveillance and Hold points.
oStructures, roadworks and drainage elements
·Assist in responding to Technical Queries.
·Complete a daily diary of all construction activities in relevant section.
·Taking of progress photographs.
·Monitoring and recording of site progress against long-term baseline and short-term 'lookahead' programmes.
·Record Contractor's Non-Conformances (NCRs) with design and assist with close-out.
·Comply with all Health, Safety and Environment requirements and identify improvement opportunities by raising safety observations where appropriate.
 
Requirements
 
·Previous experience of working on large highways / motorways / infrastructure projects;
·Sound knowledge and understanding of Specification for Highways Works (SHW) and Highway Construction Details.
·Sound knowledge and understanding of structures, earthworks, and drainage;
·Excellent record keeping skills for the completion of site inspection forms and daily records;
·Experience and competence for driving 'Chapter 8' liveried vehicles within Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) and off-road;
·CSCS Card - essential
·Safety Critical Medical certified as 'Fit to Work' - essential
·Energy and enthusiasm with trustworthy character
