Job Advert: Highways Quantity Surveyor
Location: Pontefract
Salary: £55,000 plus car allowance
 
Overall Purpose of the Role:
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join my client's Commercial team, reporting to the Commercial Manager. This role primarily involves managing the Commercial function of secured NEC 3 and NEC 4 contracts, Options A-C from award to Completion and Final Account agreement, ensuring compliance with Infrastructure policies and procedures.
 
Main Responsibilities
 
- Develop customer relationships, manage change, and maximize recovery on each contract.
- Liaise closely with our Operational staff to raise accurate EWN and CEs and ensure timely agreement of quotations.
- Ensure Monthly applications and final accounts are prepared and submitted in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets and produce Monthly CVRs.
- Identify potential financial risk and evaluate options for mitigation.
- Identify potential claims and opportunities to maximize benefits for the Company.
- Negotiate and place subcontract orders, and certify payments.
 
The Individual
 
- Excellent understanding of NEC forms of contract is essential.
- Substantial experience of Option C target costing, ideally on National Highways frameworks.
- Considerable experience in a Quantity Surveying role with a civil engineering or specialist highways background (Civils, Surfacing, Concrete Repair, or similar).
- Existing relationships with commercial and operations teams in other businesses within the sector.
- Experience working with National Highways and Tier 1 contractors.
- Ability to negotiate with customers, sub-contractors, and suppliers to create better opportunities to win work.
- Highly motivated, persistent, and possessing keen business initiative.
- Strong IT skills and experience using CRM systems for developing and maintaining customer relationships.
- Knowledge and understanding of the company's products, services, and markets.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- A bachelor's degree is desirable but not essential.

Hours of Work:
 
This role is office-based.
 
- Monday to Thursday: 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
- Friday: 8.30 am to 4.00 pm
