Join our dynamic team as an Engineer, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the successful construction and adoption of new highway infrastructure works in alignment with the Highway Authority's standards and regulations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
As an Engineer, you will be responsible for:
 
Collaborating with developers and third parties to facilitate the adoption of new highways, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and Council standards.
Assisting the Highway Authority in determining highway layouts and improvement works, making them compliant with regulatory requirements.
Approving detailed designs of highway works, ensuring they meet planning consent conditions, national guidelines, legislation, and regulations.
Representing the Highway Authority's interests in overseeing a diverse portfolio of works designed and constructed by third parties.
Supporting the technical assessment and processes associated with Section 38 Highways Agreements.
Advising on work completion, maintenance periods, formal inspections, and remedial actions.
Assisting the Principal Engineer in developing and implementing team-specific processes and procedures.
Collaborating with other teams within the Council as needed.
Establishing communication with stakeholders, Elected Members, Parish Councils, and the public as required.
 
About You:
 
To excel in this role, you will possess:
 
HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
Significant experience in highway and/or traffic engineering.
A deep understanding of national guidance, legislation, and regulations related to highway design and construction.
Experience managing a portfolio of highway works through design or construction phases.
Proficiency in using MS packages (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Knowledge of highway law and statutory procedures (desirable).
A current driving license.
