Job description

Our client is looking for an experienced Highway Asset Engineer to join their team in Nottingham as a Highway Asset Manager
 
The role will be to manage the delivery and development of asset management and the annual programme of highway maintenance schemes and keep the highway network safe and serviceable for all road users.
 
Main accountabilities:
 
·Manage, coach and develop a team of technical staff engaged in all aspects of highway asset management to enable individuals to achieve their potential and deliver effective business results.    
 
·To implement Highway Asset Management principles and activities across the immediate service area, the wider business and all relevant highway stakeholders to ensure a high standard, cost-effective approach to the delivery of the annual capital maintenance programme.  
 
·Manage the delivery of the Highway Assets & Development service ensuring that services, projects and programmes are developed and delivered on time and to budget, identifying and rectifying inefficiencies, utilising opportunities and meeting the highest standards of customer, stakeholder and performance requirements.  
 
·To undertake the effective allocation, monitoring and reporting of budgets associated with the maintenance of highway assets to facilitate the efficient delivery of a complex multimillion-pound annual county wide maintenance programme.
 
·To implement strategic policies for all aspects of asset management and maintenance to ensure the network is safe and well maintained within the resources available.  
 
·Support Health, Safety and Welfare management across the Service, ensuring that Health and Safety legislation, Policy and best practice is fully adhered to.
 
·To assist in the development of new business opportunities for the company with external and internal stakeholders, customers and government bodies, to secure additional funding opportunities to improve the financial standing of the business.    
 
·To provide asset condition and financial data for internal reporting and the Department for Transport.   
 
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
 
·Proven line management experience of technical staff delivering exceptional service to a wide range of Stakeholders   
 
·Proven technical experience in a highway or civil engineering related field with evidence of continuous professional development and industry related knowledge in the highway environment.  
 
·Strong flexible, interpersonal skills with a proven ability of working collaboratively with senior leaders, stakeholders, clients and customers to achieved agreed objectives.
 
·Experienced in working with multi-million-pound budgets in line with company strategies to maximise outputs and outcomes.
 
·Experienced in the development of techniques to improve the cost-effective delivery of highway maintenance schemes of varying scale and complexity.
