Highway Area Technician
 
Reports to: Customer and Compliance officer
 
Location: Amersham
 
The role is to proactively engage with the public, community and elected Members as well as the Parish and Town Councils on highway maintenance issues and to design, manage and deliver and locally important minor schemes.  
No Highway experience required.
You will be required to have worked in some form of customer service position.
 
·Liaise in a courteous and professional manner with Members and stakeholders on the provision of information in the delivery of area based TfB services and maintaining an awareness of highway issues.
·Manage the expectations of Councillors, stakeholders and other customers in relation to service delivery matters, budgetary and financial constraints.
·Investigate enquiries on site and determine outline solutions to highway issues, raising necessary work orders.
·Respond and provide timely updates to customer enquiries on area-based highways issues, within required timescales.
·Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements both within the service including both CDM role as client and designer as necessary and through devolution agreements.

·Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
·Experience of representing a council in a professional capacity and of stakeholder engagement at a high level.
·Initiative, political awareness and problem solving.
·Experience with working in a politically led environment.
·Educated to A-level or HNC, with GCSE Maths and English.
·Full driving licence and ability to travel widely for work to visit site, attend meetings etc.
·Ability to prioritise work and self-manage.
·The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
