Do you have experience working on civil/structural design and build schemes?
Are you an experienced Rail Engineering Manager?
A principal contractor established in the 1960s is looking for new Head of Engineering to head up a team of project engineers, CREs, and DPEs.
The successful candidate will act as a CEM across Network Rail's Building Asset Management Framework, interfacing between external design teams, and the build team on their civils & structures design and build projects.
Projects will include a lot of works around station environments, refurb projects, earthworks, tunnel repairs, and footbridges.
Working location: South East London office, likely 2 days working from home per week, 2 days in office and 1 day on site.
Site Location: Sites will be along the M3 corridor, i.e. Kent, Sussex, Wessex. Fuel card will be provided.
Salary: £65,000 to £80,000 plus £7,500 car allowance.
Responsibilities:
- Interface between and manage the design, and engineering teams.
- Ensure no issues with the programme, keeping track of the project.
- Review and sign off designs and managing the design flow with the relevant project manager.
- Liaise with key stakeholders.
- Line management.
- Support on bids.
Required:
- Chartered or working towards.
- Prior experience in CEM role or willingness to step into a CEM role. If not got prior experience, MUST be Chartered.
- 10 years' engineering experience, with majority of it being in rail civil engineering.
- Familiarity with civil and structural engineering design.
- Must have main contractor experience, with experience on design and build projects.
- Ability to lead and mentor other members of the team.
- A strong knowledge of Network Rail standards.
- PTS or ability to get PTS.
- Knowledge of quality assurance.
- Experience supporting on bids/tenders beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate with key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Right to work in UK.
Additional Information:
This role is an urgent requirement. This will be a two-stage interview process, initial interview on Teams, second interview will be a face to face with the managing director.
