Our client is currently looking for a Head of Heat & By-Product Innovation to join their team in Mansfield.
 
The roles purpose is to lead & develop all aspects of the innovation programme in relation to Mine Water Energy and By-Products. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at a critical time in the development of what they hope will be a major contributor to the UK Net Zero targets, help with the decarbonisation of heat and bring new economic opportunities to many communities.
 
You will be working with the CEO, Executive and Senior Management Team to lead and develop all aspects of our innovation programme, with a particular emphasis on Mine Water Energy.   This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of external engagement working with key government departments and critical stakeholders to maximise both opportunities and their understanding of the important role in these areas.
 
This role would suit an outgoing manager, with a passion for efficiently and effectively delivering projects - particularly those that look to bring significant benefits for generations to come.
 
Someone who is comfortable with presentation to media and large groups; as well as working with a close knit committed team with a mixture of scientific and business knowledge.  You will be a key player in our senior management team, so networking and broader thinking should be part of your everyday skills.  
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
Research and Development
 
- To own and deliver the Mine Water Energy research and development programme to establish the UK as a leading player in the field; using key collaborations with learning institutions and other government bodies as appropriate.
 
- To maximise Financial / Value contribution through:
o promoting & developing mine water heat consultancy opportunities
o seeking out and developing opportunities to received income streams and generate value via the adoption of Mine Water Energy and By-Product sales.
 
- To implement KPI's and objectives that proactively manage the performance of budgets and bring alignment to the corporate plan.
 
- To work with key stakeholders and third parties at appropriate levels to ensure the Business is viewed as a critical player in the promotion and development of Mine Water Energy (Heat, Cooling & Storage) in both the Domestic and International Markets.
 
- To work with Business Intelligence to establish and maintain a directory outlining key decision making bodies and routes to funding for Energy initiatives.
 
- To seek out and develop relationships with external Mine Water Energy leaders and funders, to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration where interests are mutual.
 
 
- To work with By-Product & Heat Innovation to ensure successful transfer of projects for market sale and delivery.
 
- To work with key industry professionals/partners to establish best options to practically deliver Mine Water Energy opportunities (inc. Heat Network installers and Heat Network Retrofit technologies).
 
- To lead and deliver effective people management and operational activities throughout the department including appropriate policies and procedures that support the businesses aims, values and risk profile.
 
- To lead any change required in working behaviours and culture to support business development and strategic direction.
 
- To lead the team by undertaking day-to-day management responsibility.
 
- To lead and support team members in achieving their performance targets, to review their performance and support them to manage their personal development plans.
