Job description

My client is looking to recruit a Graduate Engineer / Scientist to help deliver their growing ship navigation and mooring related work.  The successful candidate will join the Ships and Dredging Group and take an important role in consultancy and research work.  This will involve participating in ship navigation simulation studies, that often use state of the art ship and tug simulators, and ship mooring studies that may use some of their extensive physical modelling facilities or numerical models.  The role will require excellent communication skills, underpinned by a technical background in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.  Experience and knowledge of ship navigation, ship mooring and port operations/logistics related work will be an advantage.  The role will also provide the opportunity for innovative research and development to support this growing business area.
 
The successful candidate will have: 
A good engineering or scientific degree in a relevant subject
An ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent oral and written communication skills
An interest in research and development in ship related topics.
In addition, the following will be an advantage:
Data analysis and coding skills (Matlab, Python, .net)
Knowledge of ship navigation and ship mooring work.
