Kick-start your engineering career with a role that gives you real responsibility, structured support, and exposure to live infrastructure projects from day one. As a Graduate Civil Engineer you will be developing the practical skills and professional confidence needed to build a long-term career in civil engineering.

You will be joining a supportive, forward-thinking environment where your ideas matter, your development is planned, and your progression is taken seriously. This Graduate Civil Engineer position is ideal if you want hands-on design experience, mentorship from senior engineers, and a clear pathway towards professional qualification.

You will be working within a well-established civil engineering consultancy delivering highways and infrastructure schemes across the UK. The team is known for its technical quality, collaborative culture, and commitment to developing early-career engineers into well-rounded professionals. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will be part of a business that invests time in training, software development, and chartership support.

In this Graduate Civil Engineer role, you will be doing the following as part of your day-to-day work:
·You will be producing highways designs including junctions, access roads, and estate roads
·You will be carrying out drainage design using SUDS principles for residential and commercial developments
·You will be preparing drawings, calculations, and technical reports to support planning and construction stages
·You will be using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and drainage modelling tools
·You will be liaising with senior engineers, local authorities, and project stakeholders
·You will be supporting project delivery from concept through to detailed design

To succeed as a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will bring:
·A degree (or near completion) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
·A genuine interest in highways and drainage design
·Some exposure to AutoCAD or similar design software (academic or placement experience is fine)
·Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
·A proactive, team-focused approach to your work

You will receive a competitive salary that is dependent on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. This typically includes paid professional memberships, structured training, mentoring towards ICE chartership, and a supportive working environment where your development is prioritised.

This role is based in Wakefield, with a flexible working pattern that may include hybrid working once you are established in the role. You will have clear opportunities for progression into an Engineer and Senior Engineer role as your experience grows, with ongoing technical training and career development planning built into your journey as a Graduate Civil.
