My client is looking to appoint a Geotechnical Engineer to join their busy Geotechnical and Geo-environmental team in either Reading or Bristol.  

They are a leading development and infrastructure consultancy that provides trusted advice to create value from land and buildings owned or operated by their clients, and deliver new infrastructure to serve communities.  Their portfolio of clients and work is expanding as the demand for their expertise continues to grow.  

Joining an established team of Engineers and Scientists, you will be involved in a wide range of principally Geotechnical projects including highway / infrastructure projects and land development sites as part of planning, site acquisition and construction. They provide a multi-faceted approach to projects and the role will include Geo-environmental, Geohazards and Hydrogeological inputs, with opportunities to develop further into these areas to suit your interests. 

A key element of the role will be focussed on ground investigation and development projects located in the south and southeast England, but with opportunities to support wider teams with projects located throughout the UK and overseas. 

You will be responsible for liaising with in-house and external clients, provision of geotechnical data assessment, analysis, geotechnical design, risk assessment, modelling, and reporting on a wide variety of projects.  You will deliver phase 1 desk studies, statement of intent and preliminary sources study reports.  You will participate in phase 2 ground investigation procurement, supervision, management and reporting, preparing geotechnical interpretative reports and geotechnical design reports.  You will provide supervision and monitoring of geotechnical works for land development and geohazard projects.

You will have opportunity to work on a huge variety of projects varying in scale from local community based projects to some of the UK's largest infrastructure schemes.  This is a key role within the team and there will be ample scope to grow, develop your personal profile and learn new skills along the way to further your career.

About You
You will hold a Bachelor or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or a related subject and be working towards chartership with a relevant institution such as the ICE or The Geological Society.

You will meet the following key requirements:
·Proven track record in ground investigation, engineering and supporting geotechnical design including the ability to manage projects from inception to completion
·Strong understanding of UK geology and geotechnical / soil mechanics principles
·Practical experience of site investigation and laboratory testing techniques
·Experienced in soil and rock logging and use of associated software and analysis tools
·Good understanding or experience of geotechnical design of foundations, slopes, and earthworks
·Knowledge of contaminated land investigation and hydrogeology will be a distinct advantage
·Skills and experience to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders including clients, contractors, regulators and other professional staff across multi-disciplinary business groups.
